Mollys Cottage anyone??

Post by bethany »

We are in need of an inexpensive place to stay. Does anyone know anything about Molly's Cottage. It is in the Chocolate Hole area. Thanks!

It looks cute, but no AC would be a dealbreaker for us. We like a pool, too, even if it's shared :)

I have not stayed there but I am familiar with the area and I really think that the no AC would be a dealbreaker for me as well. It is set down a bit and I am not sure you would get great breezes there.

What is your budget and what time of year?

Thanks for the insight. I am afraid my budget is small unfortunately. It needs to be $300 per night including taxes, etc. Probably is not going to happen!

Bethany, check into Samuel's Cottages. Very reasonable and the bedrooms are air conditioned.

I'm also trying to remember another place, when I do, I'll post a link here.

You really, truly can do St. John on a budget, don't be discouraged! :D

Also, check out Trinidad Charlie's Eco Cottages. Not airconditioned, but super cute and only $135 a night!

Bethany:

We stayed a couple doors down at Ebb Tide last year. You are tucked in a little bit and the I'd be concerned about bugs.

Have you considered Battery Hill or one of the units at Villa Caribe? These are walkable to town and may help ease your mind from your other post. Also, we have stayed at WaterKlip on Contant Point and I feel a good value and a great view for the price range your looking.

I found this cute place on VRBO, it's in Coral Bay, and I'm not sure if you want to be at that end of the island, but it seems to have all that you need and it's in your price range. http://www.vrbo.com/108972

You can search VRBO by area here: http://www.vrbo.com/search/keywords:USV ... St.%20John

Have you considered Grande Bay?

There are many listings in vrbo. I have stayed at VRBO Listing #328461 (owned by a forumite). Since it is right in town, you could probably go without a car for much of the week.

Aqua Bay Villas (Frank Bay - have not stayed yet) also has a couple of units within your budget, depending on the season. Also walkable to town, so again could do without a car for a few days.

Don't forget you need to budget for a car. If you have a car check out Sailview in Coral Bay - FABULOUS and within budget.

I haven't stayed there, but I'd recommend you look at Nancy's Folly (Carbe Havens). At under $1000 it's under budget and could make a car rental within budget. It's got AC in bedrooms and there is a caretaker that lives underneath (which may help ease your concerns from your other post). The view looks good and it got a good recent review on the Trip Advisor forum.

I second Sailview and it would also solve your concern for safety. Mike and Eileen are there and they are the the greatest. The do not invade on your privacy at all but you will feel safe there.

We are staying here the first week of May http://www.rendezvousvilla.com/Rates.htm

It's $175 a night and looks nice.
We are staying for a week and you can also get a Jeep included for a little extra.

Bethany,
have you considered Concordia either the ecotents or the condo-type units? they has a communal pool, if that is important-- is priced very reasonably and i bet your kids would have a blast (that or Maho bay camps) -- I wasn't sure if these places were up for consideration since some doing like the 'camping' thing, but concordia studios or harmony studios (at mayo) aren't really camping-- and especially at Maho there is a good social scene (and usually lots of kids too)
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>
