Re: experience flying standby to Belize or last minute room

We were very lucky going to St. Thomas in stand-by with Delta. We also want to hit Belize's San Pedro and Bonaire too, which looks to be even harder to get too. Even considered the Bahamas, but inter-island travel seems expensive there too. I'd love to hear what others have found. On San Pedro, I wa...

Re: Bookend hotel / shopping for basics

We stayed at Two Sandals by the Sea B & B near Red Hook on STT. We found it very nice and comfortable. We had dinner at Secret Harbour and thought that was nice too. You'll love Coral Bay, we sure did. There's a little Market upstairs at the Cocolobo Plaza where the Aqua Bistro is for groceries....

Re: Mosquitoes, Mosquitoes, Mosquitoes on my !!!!!

We love these little wipes called Scrubs Sun Skeeter. It seems to have just enough Deet to work but not totally soaking yourself in pesticide. After application we put the used wipe in our pocket, tie it on the dogs collar or near the tents' door/picnic table leg ect. and it continues to keep away t...

Re: Top ten restaurants you would suggest?

Opps, sorry, got so excited the Pavlov reaction happened and I guess I lost focus on the whole 'dinner only' comment... I checked The Tourist Trap is open to 6pm some night's and Vie's site says she's sometimes there until 5pm, so maybe an early dinner? (340-693-5033 or 340-998-6139) Still, so worth...

Re: Top ten restaurants you would suggest?

I can't believe no one's mentioned Vie's conch fritters yet or The Tourist Trap!!!! I'll second Aqua Bistro and Shipwreck (dreaming of their soup right now). Can't speak for Maho's but Cinnamon Bay's Tree Lizard had one amazing breakfast. Gosh I'm really hungary... when's the next flight? :(

Re: Adult Beverage Recipes

Anything with Cruzan Rum! The fruit ones are easily mixed with juices (try guava if possible but pineapple is never turned down). The Black strap is great alone for sipping or mixed with cola, root beer, cream soda, red pop, or rock'n rye. Also the BBC (Bailey's, Bannana, Colada) just don't forget t...

Re: New to St. John, a few questions.

We liked Crabby's on Coral Bay. He was very helpful in the snorkeling department. :) Nice shop's nearby for other shopping and food too.

I know there is a Red Hook Mail Services down by the ferries that was extremely helpful for us, they might be capable of doing that.

We were there in the beg. of March and were told that a lot of solar flares going on at that time. Internet, cell service, credit card sales were all spotty then and caused us cash flow issues.

We're from the midwest also and just hit St. John a few months ago. Totally fell in love. Ours was definately a budget trip this year @ $2000 approx. cost. We honestly never have done an all inclusive trip and don't feel like we have ever missed out. We like hitting the local joints and trying diffe...

Secret Harbour was our other favorite beach, had great resturants and family orientated. We stayed at a nice B & B for a night but it was facing Red Hook called Two Sandals By the Sea. The owners were very nice and the breakfast amazing. If I have to stay on St.Thomas again though I might check ...

My man and I loved Francis in the morning with the Turtles. I'll second both Miss Vie's and Shipwreck as great :) Aqua Bistro had great drinks but didn't get a chance to eat there (was told it was worth it though)
