Live trip report/update...Anegada, soggy dollar bar, and...

Post by Iluvstjohn »

more!

So we arrived on Wed. to STT and made it to our charter flight through Ace flights to Anegada. Very cool low flying puddle jumper over to Anegada. I will go into detail later, but wanted to let you all know that it's something everyone should do! It isn't easy, but so so worth it. That was our "ruffing it" part of our trip.

Friday night took the afternoon ferry to Tortola. Stayed the night at Maria's by the Sea. Took a taxi to West end in the morning to get on the 9am ferry to Jost Van Dyke. Spent the day at the soggy dollar bar.....fun fun day!

Arrived here in good ol' St. John yesterday around 3:30 ish. Got our jeep at Conrad's and are having a villa gravity day here at Aqua Gem...

pictures and details to come!

Great idea to stop at Jost on the way to STJ since you had to overnight anyway. Have fun!
Going "home" again October 26th!

That is a pretty ambitious agenda. Question....what did you do with your luggage (assuming you had some) while you spent the day on Jost before heading to St. John?

Looking forward to more live updates and pix!

hey there....I can't find the damn card reader for the camera....grrrr...I might have forgotten it at home.

So, the agenda....it is ambitious...and to do it with a 6 and 8 year old to boot. We thought the ONLY way to do it was in the beginning of the trip and with tons of research, we decided to fly in...take the ferry back and make a day of it on jost...."just cuz we were there" anyway! It wasn't cheap but man, was it fun.

We did have luggage, and soggy dollar bar was nice enough to keep it in their restaurant seating area for the day. It was easy as pie!

We continue to hang at the villa today. The kids are happy to have tv again...and they have been in the pool since about 7am!

Pros so far:
*Anegada is AMAZING...so laid back. Old school....
*Taking a charter flight from STT was beautiful
* great caribbean lobster at Anegada reef hotel..yum!
*staying RIGHT on the beach is just wonderful
*taking the ferries was a breeze
*Maria's by the sea was easy to get to, clean, and just what we needed
*Soggy Dollar bar was so much fun, as always!

Cons so far
*these damn little spur things on Anegada hurt!
*there are lots of flies and bugs on Anegada....totally expected...but, ya know...bugs
*the place we stayed in on Anegada didn't have toilet paper or dish detergent in the house. This typically wouldn't be an issue but you have to get all of your food/stuff sent in via the ferry....so it's "hard to get". The place we stayed gave us some...so no biggie...I just didn't prepare for that!
*the ferry from Great Harbour to Cruz bay was $$$$$, shockingly $$$$
