Going to Flyers vs Rangers in March-

Post by mahojim »

Anyone have a groovy review of local bars/restaurants near Madison Square Gardens?
Looking for somewhere to eat after the hockey game with My Sweet Amy.
Where are the "Best Kept Secrets", as far as good grub there?
Help!
Thanks, and always,
Smiles-

Jim, check out www.yelp.com. Lots of reviews on bars/restaurants. If you've never been to a Rangers game at MSG before, you're in for a treat. Great venue & fans. Have a great time!
Especially after last nights game, this should be one hell of a re-match!

Cool! I'll look into it.
I'm a huge Flyers fan, but probably won't be wearing my "colors" up in NY. Better safe than sorry!
Janet, always a great help, thanks all!

HA - your Flyers brethren don't feel that way here in Boston; nor do the Rangers fans for that matter.

I wore my Red Sox gear to a game at Yankee Stadium; even survived the ride on the subway.

Show your colors!

Jim - I wouldnt do the reverse i.e. wear opposite colors to ANY Philly home game, but I think in NY you are more likely to get more of a sarcastic/wise guy kind of taunting than down and out foul mouthed fury. Could be exceptions to that of course depending what section you are sitting in the Garden.

Jimmy-
what kind of food do you want? do you want a 'fine' dining experience before you hit the game (in which case Esca is great) OR would great pizza be good (in which case patsys in chlesea (about .4 miles from the garden) might suit--or do you want to be really near to MSG (there are a couple of places in the garden to eat) if you can give me someideas about what you want and budget I might be able to come up with something you would like--
keep your eyes on rangers #10 Gaborik --he is awesoem to watch.
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

MahoJim: That game will be a chippy one. I was at the game last night(2-0, Flyers) & Avery was thrashed by
Hartnell right in front of me, Gaborik stupidly picked
a fight with Carcillo & was thrashed, Avery & Carcillo
fought to a draw & the Flyers had the bigger hits, so
Rangers will be looking for payback in their bldg. I
share season tix with 2 others & I have the April game
with the Rangers. I will be in STT for a week in early March & then doing a week sail out of Tortola on a 40' cat - Can't wait! Love the VI's!!

Loria,
Probably looking for some type of restaurant with "good local grub",as well as relatively good prices,& local atmosphere. A place to sit down and eat.- whatever New York is famous for...
Just give me a close place outside of MSG, and My Sweet Amy & I will check it out.
Think about the "must haves while there",...
Spaghetti, Greek, Thai, Chinese, American, Mexican,-
GIVE ME A HINT !
Again, not far from the Garden, whatsoever. I'm a dreamer and get lost easily.
I'm not shy about being faithful, and I'll probably end up wearing "my colors  ", one way or another.
Just don't want to have to beat anyone up!!!
(LOL)
Thanks for the suggestions, and(regardless of who wins-) maybe I can soothe them with
Smiles-
MJ
