Daytrip to Jost Van Dyke
Daytrip to Jost Van Dyke
What is the best way to get to Jost Van Dyke from STJ without breaking the budget? And, what is the cost to get from Great Harbour to White Bay?

Re: Daytrip to Jost Van Dyke
Check out "Fly Girl" from Cruz Bay. It's a little catamaran that we have taken to Jost several times. Love it! only takes a max of 6 people. Sometimes we have been the only ones. Have always had a great day!! Price is right too.
Re: Daytrip to Jost Van Dyke
I would say the ferry with a cost of about $70.00 pp R/T. Taxi to White Bay, maybe $6.00 pp one way.

Potential alternative to the ferry...Copeland Charters offers a JVD trip now in their Zodiac boat that includes a snorkel stop (didn't say if that snorkel stop could be the Indians or not)

For 4 people, the Copeland Zodiac is $350 for the day (9am to 4pm) plus $35 per person for customs. Add a decent tip and you're probably talking about around $540 total for four people ($135 per person).
The ferry plus ground transportation on JVD (between Great Harbour and Whitebay), around $80 to $85 total per person.
So for $50 more dollars, you'd get the convenience and privacy of personal transportation, probably about another aggregate hour of time to enjoy not hassling with cabs or making sure you catch the ferry back, and a snorkel stop (bet they might substitute Sandy Spit for a snorkel stop too.)
Anyway, I think that's worth it, but again, you'd need four people. For just two people, the ferry is probably always your best bet for most economical way.
