Hope Floats and So Do I
Hope Floats and So Do I
I tried on my swimsuits today. That might not seem very remarkable but it was a turning point for me.
A little over two years ago the love of my life had a stroke just minutes after booking our second trip to St. John. He passed away a few days later. The trip was canceled, of course, and I thought I would never see the Rock again. Together, or not at all was the way I felt. Just wouldn't feel right without my husband.
My daughter Sinawitatanka aka Nikkiki won two villas in the recent ACC auction and she invited me to come along. What seemed impossible one moment suddenly shifted. It just felt right. Life goes on.
So I looked back at my old trip reports, cried, and I tried on my swimsuits today.

I'd rather be in the boat with a drink on the rocks than in the drink with a boat on the rocks

Re: Hope Floats and So Do I
Your post brought a lump to my throat. I have no doubt whatsoever that your husband will still be with you, in your soul, in your heart and in your smile when you travel again along those special beaches that brought so much joy to you both.
I think that all of us married folk ask ourselves that same question. "Would we/could we go back without our "soul mate" at our side? I think that the "easy answer" is "what would "they" have wanted us to do"? They would have wanted all of us to continue to enjoy and love the place that brought (and brings) us all, such precious memories.
Expect some tears....but, expect many more smiles!!! Bless you and your daughter on your wonderful trip ahead.
Sincerely,
Sue

I remember when your husband passed, and I was so sad for you. I'm happy now to hear that you are trying on swimsuits and planning to return to St. John. All the best that life has to offer to you!
