When are you going and where are you flying from? My next trip is December 3, I was able to get ORD->STT nonstop on United for $225 one way. I booked that because I didn't think the fare would go lower with oil prices being so high and I wanted the nonstop flight. I haven't booked the 12/10 return yet since they all have a stop and most are about $250 one way. I find it to be cheaper to fly from O'Hare instead of Milwaukee. I like to use kayak.com to search multiple sites at once.

We have flown out of Chicago to STT 8 times and always paid between $350 and $450 each in coach. We've flown United, Delta, and Spirit (which we'd never do again). It's always been in the off-season.

We also fly out of Chicago. United or American. In the past decade we've always paid around $400 a person, the tickets we bought for last Novembers trip were the cheapest at $340 a person and the tickets we bought for this years trip were the most we've ever paid, $510 a person.
We just booked for early December and paid $514 on Delta from Columbus going thru Atlanta. We have paid as much as $750 and as little as $400. I got scared and booked a little early and decided $514 was cheap considering gas prices are rising daily!!!
