Maybe vacations are too depressing.

Post by Need2GetAway »

We just got back from our long awaited trip on Sunday night, and it's been a rough re-entry.

First of all, I can't believe I no longer have a ticker. :( Second, when I was back at the gym today and listening to my iPod, it totally brought me right back to the beach. I even got a little tear! (But my suntan does look good, lol.) Third, the weather here sucks (it always does), and I just can't believe that only 2 days ago it was BLUE skies and 80+°.

Bon Voyage to all who are leaving on trips soon. Think of us that you've left behind.

Our last visit was June 2010. It has been a long year with a lot of twists and turns as far as my health. Going back on 6/15 for 9 days. Once a year just isn't getting it anymore. S/O and I are dreaming of just the two of us doing a quick trip before next summer. Although we love going with friends, family, we just need to be 2 instead of 6!

greyhoundmom - This was the first trip my husband and I have taken alone in probably 25 years. It was WONDERFUL. Turns out we still like each other!!! :D (I actually felt sorry for the couples down there with kids, lol.)

The key is to always be in the planning stage...I spent about two hours today looking at stuff for a next trip....(And I don't even know when it will be)Keeps me from getting the post-vacation blues. And sometimes you just happen to come across a deal that you can't refuse...Here is to always having a ticker to somewhere!! :D

Not remotely pathetic...It is what keeps me going most of the time! The hunt/anticipation for the next great trip!!

I hate coming back from St John...I get teared up on the ferry to Red Hook every time...its horrible...I think many of us feel the same way...we have a trip planned for July and thankfully in August we're going to see my twin sister and her family in Wyoming. I think it will soften the blow...I like to have something planned later in the year...it helps...that being said...it would probably help if you were coming back to good weather...that would suck...

Need2GetAway- Dont feel sorry for those of us travelling with our kids to St John, I never leave my kids home(8 and 12), but its by choice, they love St John as much as I do, and they're fun to be with, well-behaved and well-mannered. It just wouldn't be the same without them.

I hate coming back from any vacation on St. John but the winter trips back to the northeast are the worst. You go from beautiful beaches and weather to gloomy cold weather and sometimes snow. You also go from wearing flip flops and board shorts to layers of clothes. The return from a summer trip doesn't seem as bad since I can still go down to a Jersey beach and relax, while not as nice it's still relaxing, must be something about the water. As far as the kids. Love my kids but the trips with just my wife are special and sometimes needed, just to get some sanity back, the rest of the year is about them, they are jealous though, because they love St. John too.
