Re: Inn Paradise or Seascape villas

Heard someone is going to start building a house soon next to Inn Paradise. I would not want to rent right next door to a construction site. The Inn Paradise Pool is on the side of the construction. They had construction on the other side of the house for 3 years and never told guests. Shame on the ...

Where the taxi stand at Caneel used to be is now the Valet stand. The taxi's are now parked along the driveway before the parking lot. If someone needs a taxi, the valets call a taxi and they drive up to pick up a guest. They have the walk down to Caneel but also now have a walk way across the drive...

Re: What is the dress code for Zozo's

We went for my birthday dinner on Wednesday. Saw everything from dress jeans on men and women to some old timers in the navy blazer and madras slacks. Majority of men were wearing shorts and collared shirt. As for foot wear, saw everything from mens flip flops to loafers. The maitre d' was wearing a...

Re: bugs this time of year?

Pour some cheap gin on a cocktail napkin and put it on the bite, in a few minutes the itch is gone. Also the Gin works week for stopping and drying the Christmas Bush and mango sap poison ivy. Voice of experience for both!

Re: High Season vs Off Season

We had a delicious breakfast at Cruz Bay Landing, menu at night looks good and affordable. The owner used to be a co-owner at Woodys so same quality and you don't have cars whizzing by you. I have heard from a few local friends that they have noticed a difference in Woodys with new owners. I will ha...

High Season vs Off Season

I made a comment on somebody's Christmas trip report, but I thought I would post for all to read. High Season, right now is not busy. I was able to get seats/tables at Joes Rum Hut for Happy Hour this past week, walk in to Waterfront Bistro, High Tide and Virgin Fire with guests, with out reservatio...

Was able to actually find food at Starfish on Saturday late afternoon still on the shelves. Chri...

Re: Happy Hour Specials

Joe's Rum Hut puts out a board of special apps and meals each day. The food is delicious and cheap for St John's standards. Their regular menu is cheap for St John standards and you are ocean front! The drinks are what I find are inexpensive for me, to get a Grey Goose, Grand Marnier Cosmo for $3.00...

Re: Happy Hour Specials

It is hard to believe I am the only person to recommend my favorite happy hour at Joe's Rum Hut in Wharfside Village. 4-6 all drinks even top top shelf $3.00. Mike Garbo runs the kitchen and always has very inexpensive specials, peel and eat shrimp, excellent pizza etc. Garbo used to run the G-Spot ...

Re: How is high season different?

Hi Pa Girl Presidents Week usually overlaps or coincides with 8 Tuff Miles, you get a different crowd that week. Also Presidents Week lodging is not as expensive as it is for Christmas. 99% of Christmas Villa rentals and Caneel/Westin all almost raise High Season rates from 50-75% more for Christmas...

Re: How is high season different?

I forgot about the winds and surf :) If we have the North Shore swells, head to Salt Pond, Lameshur or East End. Actually most Holiday travelers do not know of these beaches so you will have a better time there. If you have a boat trip planned to BVI's and it is too choppy to go to the Baths ask you...

Re: How is high season different?

First of all there is a big difference between low season and high season. What you should be asking is; What is the difference between High Season and Christmas/New Years two weeks? From Dec 21 until January 5th, You will see a Gigantic Difference and It Is Crazy, the island is packed with people t...
