We stayed there in 2009 and the home was meticulous. I know it has been sold within the last year and wanted to know if anybody has stayed there recently and how you enjoyed your stay at the villa.

Anybody stay at EL recently? We are considering foregoing the expense of a villa this year and staying at EL. What are the rooms like? We would be staying for 8 nights and I am concerned that even though we are gone all the time, I would start to feel kind of cramped. What is the privacy level like?...

It is our first time bringing a carry-on cooler. Will the meat be okay if it is frozen in zip loc bags or should I invest in a vacuum sealer? Amy suggestions for an inexpensive sealer?

After 8 trips to STJ, we have decided to buy a 24 pack Polar Bear cooler and pack some of our own food. What types of foods do you pack? Are there certain things that don't freeze very well? I don't want to take too much because we do want to enjoy some of our favorite places.

Looking at a villa for end of summer and was wondering if there is any construction going on in the area?

We love Sanibel/Captiva but found a lot of the rentals on Captiva much more expensive that STJ! Airfare and car are a lot more affordable though...

Do you notice the smell from any of the villas in the area?

We also had an issue on one of our trips. My boyfriend ripped his hamstring from his pelvic bone while waterskiing and we left for STJ 6 weeks after surgery to reattach it. Spent 10 days trying to snorkel without using his legs - not much fun. But, we both agree that it was the best trip we ever had...

What a great trip report! I have been to the Grand Canyon many times but never had the guts to hike to the bottom. I can't believe that it only took 7 hours to hike out! I could barely walk after hiking halfway down. Thanks for sharing - hope to make it to the bottom some day...
