Re: Traveling to STJ during the Festival on 7/3
July 3rd is Emancipation day in the USVI and an official holiday. On the 2pm ferry you will be ahead of the crowds going over to STJ for the nights festivities -- town will be buzzing but negotiable - the stores for most groceries will be open that day - maybe not 7/4 -- and on 7/4 the streets are c...

Re: 1:05 Layover in Miami?
Whenever I connect through Miami coming home to STT I have a long walk and then a train ride to the gate in a distant terminal- it takes a good while - the longer layover choice may well be the best for a few reasons.

Re: Public Transportation to Ferry Docks
If it is not a busy cruise ship day you may be able to charter one of the safari trucks that usually do sightseeing trips for the ships.
There are quite a few mentioned on 'cruisecritic' forum for st thomas -- you could call them and ask.

St. Thomas has all of the things you are looking for and is an easy ferry ride to STJ for any of the group to visit.

Re: Public Transportation to Ferry Docks
I don't think there are any of the open air 'safari bus' type transports as part of the airport taxi concession - there is no safe place for any luggage on them really anyway - you could ask the dispatcher at the airport if it is possible.

Re: beer prices now
Things have certainly gone a long way downhill from the days when anyone could buy a can of beer @$.50 from soda vending machines anytime, anywhere on STT.

Re: beer prices now
You don't see many of the caribbean beers here - Presidente from DR is about the same $ as heineken - Carib from T&T and Jamaican Red Stripe are more $ - never see Haroun, Wadabli or other down island brews. We never even see the beers from next door Puerto Rico. i guess Corona could be consider...

Re: Drug selling in Cruz Bay
Remember the shooting death of the young girl, there, on a cruise ship tour? That was during a drug deal, cops standing on the side. That is not accurate at all - the shooting was certainly gang related but it was during a funeral for one of the members, and a retaliatory move, not during a drug de...

Drug selling in Cruz Bay
A town hall meeting in STJ was recently dominated by the public discussion of the open sales of drugs in town. Some interesting points were raised.

Re: trip report feb. 28-march10
Nothing in the parking lot or the dining room 'bothered' me, was just surprised at the crowd, just as the OP was surprised at Skinny Legs. My observations were not elitist or meant to be mean spirited, -- but likely unneeded commentary. Lunch with my companions was excellent - attentive service and ...
