Re: car barge-reservation?

The way I remember it - it's first come, first serve.

Also, unless this changed - you back on to the barge. The first time I did it, I drove on and then notices others backing on. I had enough room to quickly turn around on the barge.

Restaurant Question

Hi All, it’s been over 7 years since we last when to STJ and I’m sure a lot has changed. There was a restaurant that was upstairs (near the lumberyard - I think) that served breakfast in the morning under one name and then changed names for dinner. I remember the breakfast was good. Does anyone know...

Rental Car Company Question

OK – I know this is the St. John forum and I’m asking a St. Thomas question. Has anyone rented from Amalie Car Rental on St. Thomas and taken the vehicle to St. John? See, I had St. John in there somewhere. Thanks

Looking for a Villa for 4 couples

Hi All, It’s been a long heck of a time since we even thought about going back to St. John, but we are heading back (with a little help from the forum). There will be 4 couples (8 people) going. I need help in finding a villa for us and I know this is the place to ask for help. Here are some require...

Re: Trip Report 6/26-7/1 Part 2

Got your reply from part one and will tell Steph to lok out for your trip reports. I will try the pic thing again, maybe the pic was too big.

Any way - you guys look like you're having way too much fun. But I'm not sure if you can have too much fun on STJ.

Keep the reports coming -and the pics too.

Nice start. The villa looks great. can't wait to read the rest.

I tried to post a picture in the off-topic area and got and error. Maybe you can tell an Ole Dog how to do it again.

Now waiting for Part 2and more pics.

Thanks

What an opportunity for someone – I’m sure that someone will snatch it up. I don’t get on the forum much these days, but I sincerely hope that Ron is doing better. All our best to both of you - Ruth and Ron.

Re: First Week Has Flown By!!

I have to agree with you about Colette being the best. Sometime back (been a lot of years) – my wife and I dove with Colette. My wife was new at scuba and it was one of the best times we had. I have been diving for a lot of years (30 +) and maybe Colette told you about this trick on how to clear you...

Re: TD 9 - Tropical Storm/Hurricane Isaac

Here in Florida we’re watching this very closely. I have already stocked up on water (first thing to fly off the shelves) – next is to stock up on wine. The spaghetti models have it coming right up Florida to the Miami area (South Florida) being the entry point. Been through too many of these – so w...

Here is one no one mentioned

Try Gibney Beach. Secluded, Palms hang over the water, white sand and history too. A small piece of land, on the far northeastern section of the beach, was sold in 1957 to J. Robert Oppenheimer, an atomic scientist and member of the Manhattan Project.

Cooler

We would take a small soft sided roller cooler that fits in the overhead. We took most of the stuff that you’re thinking of taking. I would individually wrap everything and freeze it rock solid. As for the shrimp – I’m marinate them and freeze them in them marinate. No need for additional ice packs ...

Oh No

What’s this world coming too – STJ, a dry island? Who ever heard of a Caribbean island with no alcohol? No Bushwhackers, no Pain Killers, no Rum & Coke, no Vodka Martini and the list is endless. Well, it’s probably not a bad idea. Remembering what Good Friday is all about, makes your soul feel g...

Oh So Nice

Oh so nice. Is that me on that sail boat, or in a hammock in that house with a Bushwacker, or am I that tiny speck in the water. Well, I think you all get where I'm comming from. Thanks for the Pic and the memories. Been awhile since I posted on here, but for you newbies - I'm an original ole-timer....
