After all of the fracas this week and many good (and some exaggerated) points, and a lot of consideration for the safety of my family on island, this is one tourist who intends to make our planned 2011 visit. All things considered, I see a positive government reaction on many fronts, some possible i...

Thanks for your detailed Trip Report!
Wow...we've visited about 15 times, and you're cramming more in one week than we did in all, but you're hitting most we;'ve visited (and loved). We tend to get to a beach and stay.
Hope you get to Jost Van Dyke...and back to St John!
Waiting for more report...

We are scheduled for next May and I already rented a vehicle from Dependable (just FYI, Budget could not confirm a vehicle that far in advance.) We've rented from Dependable 4 times, taken the car to STJ each time with no issues (broke down in STT with immediate response/replacement vehicle, though....

I feel terrible, especially for the family of the girl killed. Paradise lost. The drug/gang scums can go to hell. I've been following all of the posts, which in my opinion have digressed into peripheral "fixes". I've booked a trip (about our 15th) for next May with my family; I am seriousl...

For condo, restaurants, entertainment - STT
For beach, beauty, history - STJ
I love them both.

Lucky for me they are close enough together to visit both...many times.

Good comparisons STT/STJ; we stay in a condo on STT but visit STJ 2-3 times per visit, usually 10 day stays. We take the car over at least once (mostly to get to Coral Bay).We stay out of CA, but this year in May both traffic and visitors were down. Hands down in my opinion, STT has more food option...

Sorry to hear of your issues with Spirit; we flew DCA-STT in May, no rumblings of strike or issues. And I was talking directly to the pilot, since our first flight (DCA-FLL) was delayed because of a cargo door sensor, and our FLL-STT flight was delayed because of a sensor issue (hot engine) that req...

Thanks for that posting; it will help plan events while we're on island later this month (although it doesn't look like it will be very crowded at any time).
Great tool.
Love this board.

Thanks, everybody. I'm going to take the safe route and select seats; may be worth it not to worry about where we'll end up.
It is my understanding that we're OK with carry-on (we're flying in May.
Even with paying for seats it is still cheaper.
Bon voyage...

Spirit Air

We're about to use Spirit for the first time; trying to keep costs down this time we did NOT purchase seat assignments.
Has anyone had experience with the seating at the gate for Spirit? Or do you recommend pre-purchase...?
Thanks in advance.
