Re: Comparing St John to St Croix

Sorry to hear you didn't get responses, so I'll give you my perspective from someone who lives on St Thomson and has visited all 3 islands. What many people like about St Croix over the other Virgins is the variety of accommodations on the beaches. Many of them are very affordable during the off sea...

Re: Kayak Rental

You can rent kayaks at Honeymoon Beach. I think they're $20 per hour, but they also have an all-day pass for $49.

Um, if he's so generous, why would he harass you for giving a whopping $1 tip regardless of the percentage? Am I missing something here? If he/she was using that as a basis for making conversation, please say so.

Re: Thrift stores? St. John

Yes, but I'm not sure where the one is on St John now. There used to be one across from Sogo's, but I heard the owner of that one was opening up something in the building next door to JJ's in Cruz Bay near the park. On St Thomas there are several. The most popular one is across from Cost U Less and ...

Re: Anyone use mobile GPS tagging apps?

Sorry, I just noticed your message. I don't hang out much on this forum. I've had everytrail for so long that it's hard for me to remember why I chose it over others. I think it was recommended in a PC magazine, and they had an Android version. It got good reviews, and it has an offline map option t...

I walked it, photographed it, and mapped it. Here it is.

There's a booth there now selling drinks and snacks, so no need to lug a cooler, though they may not carry adult beverages.

Re: Trip report-First time to St John January 2013

So glad to hear you had a good trip! There's a page on the NPS site where you can post comments, and I posted a compliment for our guide. I saw her a few months after the hike/review, and she was thrilled that I posted a compliment that went to her boss, who sent it out to all park employees. I pref...

The businesses on the Waterfront usually stay open until at least 1 pm on Sunday. However, not all the restaurants in town are open on Sunday.

Re: Any Beach Advice For A Layover In Puerto Rico?

Puerto Rico is much larger than any VI, so it would help if you narrowed down the area you plan to visit. I've spent time on the east coast and went to Culebra so got a chance to see a few beaches. If I were you, I'd stay on Luquillo (so?)beach, but also take a day trip to Culebra to visit Flamenco ...
