Windward is fine - walk to ferry dock,Frenchtown, downtown - mostly business travel, bvi overnight charter groups, Danish groups -- standard rooms - on the waterfront highway downtown - 5 min. to airport /taxi. Emerald Beach Resort and Island beachcomber are Right on the beach and very walkable - close to Frenchtown which is easy to walk around with many restaurants

I sympathize with your assessment of the way STJ has changed -- but you can only imagine my impression of the current conditions that are prevalent now there. I moved to the VI in 1975 and for many years STJ was a frequent welcome respite for a day, a weekend or longer both on island or on the boat ...

You might also check Olgas Fancy in Frenchtown. Green Iguana is a very good choice too and well run. Island Beachcomber next to Emerald Beach may be worth checking out too.
