Re: Maison Miele villa?
We stayed at the villa next door a few years back and the views/location are really beautiful. Also, it is very close to the The Tourist Trap - definitely a bonus!

That is my absolute favorite part of the island, and that is the most perfect photo I have ever seen of it!

All of that sushi is making me so hungry Really beautiful pics again. Also, I'm sure you know this, but I have to say that you have the most beautiful skin. Most people are a pink, shiny mess in the tropics and you are all photo ready!

Re: Confused about how VRBO works
I am 100% certain that the owner would have been mortified at that gesture. I think it depends on the owner :) We rented a house in Peter Bay, high season. Upon arrival, there were many things not acceptable for the price of the house but I will give just one example. There weren't enough beach tow...

Re: Trip report: Another week in paradise, part one
Also, I forgot to mention, it isn't just a high season thing, as far as them patrolling the lounge chairs. In early December we witnessed a full on battle of wills between a non-guest on a lounge chair (on the main beach) and the staff member. That man was NOT going to move. It was entertaining and ...

Re: Confused about how VRBO works
Needmesomesun: Your interaction with the management company could not be any further from ours ( we have had some really gret ones) and that is the reason that I want to deal with someone on island and not an off island owner. I can speak face to face with an on island manager but I can only call o...

Re: Confused about how VRBO works
This became a huge problem on craigslist a while back. What they did was require the person creating the listing to verify if they were the owner or an agent. Now, in the search engine for craigslist, you can choose to pull only listings by owners and it cuts out all other listings from your search....

Re: About to pull the trigger!!
NeedMe, I wasn't talking about calling the owners to get around the management company, just thinking of the advice I keep reading to contact the owners personally before renting from VRBO. I guess I'm just confused as to why you would contact the owner if GCG is also the listing company for that p...

Beautiful pics Becky. Did you find that Caneel was looking better than in previous visits and did you feel the food was better as well? It seemed that way to us.

Re: Who is your favorite jeep rental company?
We have used Cool Breeze for years. They are very laid back and close to the dock. We have rented cars that are brand new there, as well as cars that are really beat up, but as long as the car and AC work well, and there is an outlet thing for the Ipod (yes I'm very technologically advanced), I am h...

Re: About to pull the trigger!!
If you already contacted the Management/Listing Company, I don't think it is fair to go around them and call the owner.

Re: Confused about how VRBO works
I posted about this a while back. I do feel that the management companies that post villas there are really misleading. The name of the website is Vacation Rentals BY OWNER. Not Vacation Rentals Listed by their Management Companies. If people wanted to rent from a MC, they would check out MC website...

To answer some questions, yes it was just the two of us. I didn't want to get into cost, as I believe it varies based on several factors. If you have a large party, you are going to need a server and that might increase your cost. I don't know by how much, or if it is just a gratuity. We didn't need...

Re: Sol Inclination
Teresa - I can imagine that if the road wasn't paved when you stayed there it would have added significant travel time to your day.
While we never timed our trips, I'm absolutely certain it didn't ever take more than 15 minutes. Perhaps it was the time of year of our visit.
