Re: What does your forum name mean?
VI Lover..... Pretty self-explanatory. I LOVE the Virgin Islands! (no - it was never meant to be "sexy" or any kind of self-proclamation of my "prowess" - though....... ).
Simply - I'm a Virgin Island Lover and will always be!

Island Theme Tattoo?
I just got my first tattoo. Yup - 51 year old man who finally joined the "tribe". I got a Christian Fish symbol on the inside of my arm. I would really like to get something that is reflective of STJ and my unbridled passion (obsession) with the islands. Have any of you done this? If so - ...

Re: Wife's Birthday Dinner!
Thanks for all of the responses! It will be all 4 couples going out for dinner together for the celebration. When I say she's "cheap" (and it's an endearing quality), I mean she does not find enjoyment in a $35 per plate meal when a $15 meal will do. That isn't to say that she doesn't enjo...

Wife's Birthday Dinner!
Going to be on-island in February celebrating my wife's 50th birthday! We have a total of 4 couples on this trip. Friday will be her birthday, and I'm looking for restaurant recommendations. Here are some details: *She is allergic to Shellfish. *We have been to Morgan's Mango too many times to make ...

Re: 8:00 pm Arrival - Where to Stay the 1st Night
We also like the Mafolie. Very well described. They also, at times, require a multi-night stay during peak season. We are arriving the day before our villa is ready this February, and are staying at Island View Guesthouse. We stayed there 3 years ago. Similary to Mafolie, it's a modest hotel with ex...

Re: Monday to Monday???
We're from Richmond, and went Monday to Monday via Dulles (Direct Flights each way!) last April for Spring Break. Easy travel both ways. Got to STT airport 2 hours early and walked directly to the ticket agent. Only "snaggle" was that Budget had to switch cars around to accomodate our rese...

Re: Rental Car for 6 adults?
Thanks to everyone for the replies! I really did not know so many STT agencies offered the larger vehicle. The update is: It doesn't matter now. We found a 4th couple to join us, so we'll be renting 2 Jeeps. That's a lot easier decision and Jeeps are much more available. Thanks again for your replie...

Rental Car for 6 adults?
Does anyone know where I can possibly rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle on St. Thomas that seats 6? We'll be going to St. John. Budget advertises a large SUV, but I don't want to rent from them. Any other agencies you could recommend? We're on STT for a day before and a day after our villa reservations o...

Re: 1st trip
My best advice is to plan more about what you want to do and see, and less about WHEN to do and see. The joy of the island is that each day can be scheduled independently (except if you want a scheduled Powerboat trip - I recommend Palm Tree Charters- or Ferryboat to JVD). So instead of thinking &qu...

Re: Burger wars part two
Worst Burger Story also the Best Burger Story. Ivan's on JVD. We usually take the public ferry for the day and stop at Ivan's in the morning then visit Soggy Dollar and neighbors in the afternoon. Have you ever had an Ivan's burger? It's a frozen 1/4 patty that's cooked from frozen on a flat top gri...

Re: Renting a jeep on STT is tempting... should I??
I've been a loyal Budget customer for 8 of our 9 trips (including this past April). But no more. Waited in line over 30 minutes to get to the counter. Then, had to wait over 30 minutes after signing the paperwork for a car to be cleaned and delivered and only got it when another customer refused to ...

I can't speak for "everything", but we've been to STJ in October a few times, and found it to be nearly the same as winter - just not quite as busy.

Re: Tell me about Prescription Dive Masks
My eyes aren't really THAT bad, but I decided to get a prescription mask for this past trip anyway. I used my last prescription from eye exam and ordered on-line via snorkelmart. I'm glad I got it. I really enjoy snorkeling. I don't really stay out that long on each swim, but it's a big part of my f...

Re: BVI/STJ Boat Charter - Help Me Pick...
We just went out with Palm Tree last week. 4 adults and 2 teen girls. Had a great time! Captain John is a lot of fun, knows the waters well, and does his best to make sure your group has a great time. We started with a north shore tour where John pointed out various sights of significance and told a...
