We loved our stay at Miles Away. The pool is not completely private - there is a villa above MA and they can see on to the pool deck from some of their balconies. It is a great house!

The parasheet's are awesome! They are super lightweight and fold right up in their own little pouch. We like it much better than lugging around the neat sheet.

Greyhoundmom,

When was your Trunk encounter last year? We were there in late July and may have been part of the group of people that were out there with you. It was awesome to see and we swam and followed them for a long time! Got some great video of it too.

I am by no means an expert on Sanibel. We will be heading down to Captiva next month. During my research, I found one house that got great reviews but unfortunately was booked solid. It is called Villa Elena and is offered through Royal Shell Vacations. There is a lot of great info. on Trip Advisor.

We have an otter box and have been pretty happy with it. I personally would not take the keys in the water though - it is not worth the cost of a damaged fob or lost keys.

I am an average swimmer but have never had a mjor issue in STJ. We have encountered some pretty strong currents around Trunk Cay, Waterlemon, Haulover North and Salt Pond. Our rule is that once the coolers open and the cocktails start flowing, the snorkle gear gets put away for the day.

We bought the PacSafe for our backpack and love it! It really gives you peace of mind when you are out snorkeling. We never carry anything valuable but it would prevent the grab & go on the beach. We bought ours on Amazon but REI also carries them.
