Re: Good Morning from Mamey Peak!

A cold wave hit us this morning; current temp right now is 53F. OK, I hear all you folks up north saying, what’s he complaining about – it’s -7 here, -9 there, minus who cares – it’s too dammed cold. Cold for Florida standards, but nice and toasty for all you others. So, if you can’t make it to STJ ...

Definitely look into trip insurance. As long as you did not make your final payment on the condo – you’re covered. A number of years ago, we had a trip planed and right before we had to make our final payment – my wife was diagnosed with cancer. I call the trip insurance company and they said that a...

Re: Lost luggage

This past October as we were boarding our flight in Tampa – we were told that the pilot said that all the overhead was full and that everyone else will have to gate check their carry-on. We were late getting into Miami and had to run to get to our connecting flight to STT. We were the last ones on t...

Re: Charter to Jost Van Dyke plus snorkeling

We were down at the end of October and rented a boat with St. John Boat Rental to spend the day in the BVI’s. We rented their boat called Innovation which is a 32” Twin Hull that road like a dream. There was lots of room for all 8 in our party. Capt. John runs the operation out of STT and we met the...

Re: Car Rental Help

We were down end of October and rented from Amalie Car Rental. They have all brand ne Jeeps and I think ours had like 2500 miles on it. They meet you at the airport (spot on) and as the rest of our group was waiting for the baggage, they take the driver to sign the paperwork (about an 1/8 of a mile ...

Re: back by popular demand

Seven years ago we had plans to go to STJ when my wife was diagnosed with Mesothelioma. The outlook was not good as there was no known cure for it. Long story short - she is a patient at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and from what we were told; she is their first patient to be cancer-free of ...

Re: Is Uncle Buddies still on Coki Beach

Thanks for letting me know. I assume that Penn still owns and runs the place.
Will have to pay a visit and have a Bushwacker or 2.

Is Uncle Buddies still on Coki Beach

Its been a long time since we were on St. Thomas and I was wondering if Uncle Buddies is still there on Coki Beach. We had a blast at that beach shack and would like to go back.

Re: Jeep Rental Return

AA had changed our flights several times and the last change we were losing a day out of our vacation. I called and explained (in a nice voice) that their change was unacceptable and could they help me. The AA agent bent over backwards and got us out flights back. So, I’d give them a call again and ...

Re: Talk me off the "bad weather" ledge!

As my dear ole dad would say, "You can only get wet as far as the skin." You have no control of the weather - so just enjoy what is thrown your way. 1. If it's sunny - outdoor activity (Beach, water, sun) 2. If it's raining - indoor activity (Arm curls at the beach bar or any other place) ...

Luv the report. So, now you have a slice of Paradise.

Too cool to have your own boat down there. The best of both worlds.

Re: 20 years ago...

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. We did our honeymoon on STT and took a day trip to STJ. That was enough to hook us on STJ. But we have great memories of STT too.

Thanks again to the trip back in time.

Another BVI Question

On another post, I asked what the BVI Custom’s fee was and everyone said $40.
I heard back from the boat captain and he told me that the current fee is $45. Is it common practice that the fee will vary from one boat rental place to another?
