Your best St. John packing tip?
I will be sure to bring more coffee this time. We ran out quickly when we were there in 2013...all those wonderful mornings sitting outside, drinking coffee, and watching the sun rise. My pound of coffee was gone in no time and was very expensive at the starfish market. Therefore, my tip..bring plen...

Re: Conched Out
I tried for January 2015, but it was booked for the week I wanted. Looks good on VRBO, great reviews, and catherine noonan got back to me in a couple of days when I inquired about the villa. One of the reviews said Catherine also has a car for rent...?

Does my heart good to read that you, loria, are concerned about bats...I love bats too! I so enjoy watching them fly and catch bugs at twilight. Don't worry, we'll never eradicate Mosquitos, they'll be here long after we're gone!

Re: CHIKV mostly over
Thanks for that post coconuts. Another non-toxic product that I use are the mosquito donuts. They contain a bacteria (BTI) that only attacks the mosquito larvae in water and is non-toxic to other organisms in the water (I'm an aquatic biologist and work at the EPA). The donuts are safe for use aroun...

Which beach/snorkel will you do first?
After much planning, you're finally on your way to STJ, you've spent a whole day getting there, you get your jeep, your groceries, meet the villa manager, get to your villa, get unpacked, go to sleep and wake up in paradise. What is the first thing you look forward to doing? Which area on the island...

We're in on that! We can't wait to go to the beach bar...Bgill716 wrote:I understand if it's to complicated. It's hard to make plans with people you have never met. If knee deep gets back to us, maybe we can pull this off, if not, maybe we can meet up at the beach bar for a painkiller.

Re: Charter to Jost Van Dyke plus snorkeling
You're right hotrns about the cost being less than a lot of other charters *if* we could get 3 couples. It's ok, palm tree charters Is on my STJ bucket list for next time :D . January 2015 we will most likely book with Kekoa or survivan. Thanks to everyone for posting responses! Really appreciate it...

Re: Charter to Jost Van Dyke plus snorkeling
Hi, When you say with gas, does that mean gas is included or extra? Thanks for getting all the info and trying to make this work. Barbara Hi Barbara, I just went on Palm tree charters website and it looks like the charter is 595.00, gas is approx. 200.00 depending on where else we go besides JVD. T...

Re: Charter to Jost Van Dyke plus snorkeling
My husband and I will also be there from 1/23 - 1/30 and are interested in sharing a charter. This will be our third trip to STJ and the first one on which we will actually be attempting to pick our butts up off of the beach! Let me know if you are interested! Kneedeep, see my post to Bgill above, ...

Re: Charter to Jost Van Dyke plus snorkeling
We will also be there in that time frame. We have always wanted to go out with Palm Tree Charters, but have not been able to find anyone to share the cost. Let me know if we can work something out. That would be fantastic! Let's try to make that work, palm charters can take up to 6 people and knee ...

Re: I have a St John problem.....
Yes, I am afflicted! I had no plans to do STJ during the winter of 2015. We have a short trip in December to Disney and then another hiking trip to Zion in March...but then I saw the airfare which was a darn good price and I couldn't stop my finger from pressing "purchase"...my husbands a ...

Charter to Jost Van Dyke plus snorkeling
It's just my husband and I going to STJ this time, so it would be expensive (750.00!) to go with palm tree charters and I know that's the best one...but can't do it with just two. So what are some other options where we can join other people, but still keep it small, plus have a fun time snorkeling ...
