Re: Great Exuma - A new adventure :)
Please post a trip report as we are seriously thinking about going here. I've been put off by all of the reports about how crowded STJ has become and have been toying with the idea of Great Exuma, Eleuthera and Bequia. Where are you staying? We've been thinking about the dreaded all inclusive becaus...

Re: Searching for small coastal towns to visit/retire
Fairhope and Daphne, AL have grown up so much I wouldn't dare think of retiring there. It's ridiculously crowded in the summer and during spring break. I swore I wouldn't share my new found secret with anyone, but I must put a vote in for St George Island, FL. It's a barrier island off the coast of ...

Say it Ain't So!
I was happily planning our return to STJ for June/July 2015 when I came across a trip report on Trip Advisor. It was a great report except for one thing.......she mentioned how crowded everywhere was. She compared Maho to Myrtle Beach and even said Salt Pond was crowded. There are no dates to her re...

PIA or anyone with real estate knowledge.....
We are planning our 2015 trip and are seriously considering a split stay between Virgin Gorda and STJ. Do y'all know if there's a company or an individual who owns a rental on both islands that we could work with? We are thinking 4-5 days on VG and 7-8 days on STJ. I don't know if it would be easier...

Re: That special STJ aroma!
Is the aroma by the Stinky Donkey Dip sign in Coral Bay a result of the dumpster or the mangroves there? I almost gagged the first time we drove by it, but came to miss it after we left.

Re: Are you an RN in the USVI or looking to relocate?
When we were on island in March we visited Myrah Keating for steroids for my daughter. I am a nurse & they told me they are desperate for nurses! There was a position at the clinic as well as the hospital on STT. Hmmm. Been a nurse for 20 yrs. Does anyone know how much they pay there? I have al...

Re: VG first, then STJ or STJ then VG?
I guess I should clarify what I meant when I said "camping" . I meant set up like a camp ground with different housing areas with a main commissary and pool area. After reading your stories and seeing the doggie, Guavaberry is looking more and more like my kind of place!!! Thank you...

Re: VG first, then STJ or STJ then VG?
Thank y'all so much for the quick replies! We may do as MJ suggested and spend 5 days on VG first to get our feel of the island and finish our vacay with 7 days on STJ. We can always go back to VG for longer next time, right :-D? It's still a year out so I'm sure I'll be back with plenty of question...

Re: VG first, then STJ or STJ then VG?
Wow! Thank all of you for your input! It sounds like a split stay is what we'll be doing! I'll do my homework to figure out which is best for our dates! If I may, I'd like to pick your brains for a place to stay. Has anyone stayed at Sundowner? I'd prefer a rental near the Baths, but am really inter...

VG first, then STJ or STJ then VG?
We are planning our 2015 return to STJ (yay!) and I am really wanting to go to Virgin Gorda this time. I'd like to stay there for 4 nights and rent a villa on STJ for a week. I know some of you have done both islands and I am hoping you can give me some advice. Here are my thoughts: Stay on VG first...

Re: Scorpion in the bathroom
I saw a squished hairy blue spider on the Reef Bay Trail. Was that a tarantula? As long as there's no giant grasshoppers on STJ all is well with me I'd rather catch a snake than deal with a leaping giant grasshopper!
