Re: Wine & Cheese
Depending on what your schedule is on getting from the airport to STJ -- you could bring a collapsible cold bag and stop by Gourmet Gallery in Crown Bay. A fine extensive cheese selection and a very wide selection of wine in all price ranges, regions, varietals and vintages. You would not be disappo...

Skinny Legs being discovered?? STJ has been discovered for years now and the internet amplifies that a hundredfold. I had lunch at Caneel Bay on Monday and was fortunate to get a table! The parking lot was crammed with shiny rental jeeps and the clientele resembled Walmart fashionistas.

Re: What was your first impression of St. John?
@watergirl BTW, in 1982 the Captain of the boat felt that St. John had passed it's heyday - too crowded and touristy, He said you should have been here in the "70's!. My 1st visit was in 1975 just after I moved to STT - it was a backwater hippie haven adorned with dusty ragged jeeps, deserted ...

Skinny Legs will be a giant New England party scene if that is your desire. To watch the game in a quieter venue I think there will be many options for you coming in this thread. A well designed sports bar like Caribbean Saloon in Red Hook could be a consideration - for a different atmosphere a ferr...

.. Happy new year Exit Zero from Cape May, Exit 0 on the parkway ! I am a CMPt boy but been sailing here since 1975 - you might consider coming and chartering during the Rolex Regatta or the BVI Regatta for some good competitive sailing. Hope you get to the Point to see the ball drop at the Firehou...

You may be thinking of the Farr 65's that a company named OnDeck Racing used to sail here - they are gone from STT.

There is sidewalk all the way from the airport exit booth - flat and about a 15 minute walk. Rolling luggage should be ok. You might consider sending Mom and the youngest on ahead in a taxi with all the luggage if you are not traveling fairly light.

Re: Car Barge Newbie
It is a proven fact of life here - Patience is not just a virtue but a totally necessary requirement to live here. Island time is not a myth and getting upset about delays whether living here or visiting doesn't change anything but your own attitude.

Long delays in some instances currently make an earlier departure for the airport even more worth considering now if you are returning a STT rental car.

Re: Finally Sailing the BVI's with some ???
pack lightly for the boat trip - in a soft duffle bag type luggage. perhaps they will have a storage on land for your other luggage for the STJ stay. Understand the water and power restraints on board - listen to the orientation talk attentively - it is a different way of life - they may stress prop...
