Re: 8:00 pm Arrival - Where to Stay the 1st Night

We usually take the AA flight that arrives on STT at 8:00 or 9:00 depending on the season. I prefer heading straight to St. John. As others have said, the ferry runs until Midnight, so it is highly unlikely that you won't make it. Enjoy your trip!

Re: Caneel Public Beach - Public Unwelcome

I am bummed by this. I have no problem with the no cooler rule---Caneel sells food and drinks, so its natural that they want you to buy food and drink only from them. The "no-chair" rule is the dealkiller for me. You have never been able to use the Caneel chairs, so this means there is now...

Re: Airfare Post Christmas OMG

Marcia---May not make you feel any better, but we have the same issues flying from Des Moines. I think it's part of the problem of not living in a major air hub. Just yesterday, I was helping our close friends plan a trip to St. John from Des Moines for Spring Break 2014. Most tickets (Saturday to S...

Re: Converting from STT to STJ

Connie--I think your original idea---Blue Bitch---is a good one. Haven't been there, but I know the location---gorgeous views. You might also check out String of Pearls as a 1BR (near the Westin). I also think that Grande Bay offers some advantages.

Re: Chateau La Tete Rouge or Cocotier

Thanks for the advice. They both look like great houses but we went with Chateau La Tete Rouge. Among other things, I like saying that name:)

Very excited----we took a couple of years off from St. John to try other places, but as Dorothy said, theres no place like home.

Re: Chateau La Tete Rouge or Cocotier

Thanks, kklay, for your nice reply. I love the Klein Bay area too----because the hills are so steep, it seems like a closer water view than you have in Virgin Grande Estates. Looks like a beautiful house. My only slight hesitation was the open-air living room and whether mosquitos or birds flying th...

Chateau La Tete Rouge or Cocotier

Hi all---Planning to return to St. John again next February with our family. We are down to deciding between Cocotier and Chateau La Tete Rouge. Cocotier is newer, full A/C, sunset views---seems like a safe choice. However, my three daughters love the look of Chateau La Tete Rouge with the big pool ...

Re: House Hunters International STJ???

I thought it was a great show, too. Nice couple. They did a great job with the pool addition to Chez Shell. One thing that I thought was a little unrealistic was the idea that they could have a "caretakers suite" in the waterfront villa on Great Cruz Bay directly outside the pool. Who woul...

Just to comment on the post about booking with AA miles, for many years I have booked trips to STT in high season with 35,000 miles (round trip). Just recently that has become virtually impossible and it now generally requires 70,000 miles for one ticket---huge difference. Not sure what has happened.

Share a BVI Charter March 5-9

Anyone interested in sharing a charter with Captain John March 5-9? Janie and I will be traveling solo this year instead of with a group and would love to join up with others if you are interested in a day on the water.
