Anyone get an item from Friends of VINP auction?

I kept eyeing a couple of items on the auction, then didn't go for it. I was especially interested in the "On a Clear Day" villa. Just curious if anyone "won" any of the items?

Re: Can you share your lists for shipping and Cost-U-Less?

Would you mind re-posting your shipping costs and the length of time you allow for stuff to get there before you do? I've never pre-shipped stuff, but am thinking about it for our next trip. I've never been to Cost_U-Less, so I can't compare prices, but I have a suggestion if you decide not to shop ...

Re: Octopi Off STX

Thank you for posting this! I love to see Octopi - they are such incredible masters of disguise. Its amazing how they can "squish" themselves into little places. We've seen them at Maho (right side), Trunk (late in the day), and Waterlemon. We often see evidence of them (freshly opened she...

Oh, no! Out of Valley Doll sauce

We love the Valley Doll sauce for marinating chicken or pork. I just used the last drop in the bottle this week :( We first discovered it some years ago at Shipwreck Landing. They had a fish entree that used this sauce and it became one of our StJ favorites. The lady who made the sauce has passed aw...

Re: Under the Rainbow Villa

I've never stayed here, but thought I would offer some observations since I enjoy "the hunt" for a villa. This is a good price for a villa with A/C in bedrooms and a nice pool. We enjoy cooling off in the pool after being at the beach. The apartment is very basic, and they use the word &qu...

Re: rick's rules for groups???

Thanks for re-posting this. It makes me chuckle every time. I think its great advice. We only travel with one other couple, and we have traveled together many times, so we haven't experienced many issues. However, whenever we start to think about vacationing with a bigger group, these things come to...

Re: Books, Apps, or Web sites

We've had several trips to Tortola before going to other BVIs and have enjoyed it. I second Watergirl's recommendations for Smugglers Cove and Brewer's Bay. We've had excellent snorkeling at Brewer's Bay and enjoyed the little beach bar (which isn't always open). Also second the recommendation for e...

Re: Marco Island or Naples?

Thanks for the link to Tracy's blog. I had read one of her trip reports some time ago. She is funny, quite the foodie and I enjoy her pictures too. My parents live near Sarasota, so I will add some of the restaurants she mentions to our list. I think my favorite quote of this while post is "The...

Marco Island or Naples?

Can anyone recommend a place to stay on Marco Island or Naples in Florida? We want to send my parents on a weekend trip to one of these, but we've never been there. They are 80 and have trouble going up/down stairs, so we need some place that has a ground floor unit or an elevator. They used to do a...

Re: Villa with Jeep Included

I've never seen a listing that has a Jeep included, but I have a suggestion. Several years ago, we went on the White Wing sailboat with Captain Clark. He mentioned that he and his wife manage some villas in the Coral Bay area. I recall that they managed one (or more) villas that came with a Jeep, so...

Re: Pic's Pics & Report - August 2015

Wow - what an enjoyable trip report and beautiful pictures. My hubby and I are "snorkel-a-holics", so we love looking at people's snorkeling pictures. Those pictures of Maho are so inviting - they beckon us to consider a fall trip.
Thank you for taking the time to post!

Re: 18 more days in paradise, part two

Thank you for your wonderful report and pics, as always. Love that you all got to see the manta - so special! I was curious about Hansen. We have enjoyed snorkeling there in the past and we were wondering if it is still accessible. Seems like we read that someone put up a fence to block access last ...

Re: Where would you go?

We have really enjoyed our 2 trips to VG, so it would be my top recommendation. There are some beautiful beaches, great snorkeling and the North Sound area is very scenic. We loved going to Hog Heaven and getting a spectacular view of the islands in North Sound. Saba Rock has a free ferry and its a ...

Re: Villa decisions oh my....

We have a few favorites on StJ, but I enjoy the "thrill of the hunt" for a villa. We have some "must-have" features that eliminate some villas. Since you're a StJ villa veteran, you probably have a list too, but here are my observations. We must have a pool (preferably on the sam...
