Re: any on island reports?

That's the only source I've seen with an update from on-island. All of the St. John based webcams I can find all seem to have last updated at 7:22. There's a short loop from 8:53 on the Soggy Dollar webcam, but that's it. The track for the eye looks to not be as far North as hoped, so will pas...

Re: GoPro Users - Questions

I used stuff from Snake River Prototyping. http://www.snakeriverprototyping.com/ ( no affiliation, just a satisfied user ) It comes in two parts: a plastic adapter that fits on the GoPro to covert it to take a standard 55mm camera lens filter, and then a 55mm SWCY ( Shallow Water Cyan ). There is al...

Re: GoPro Users - Questions

I've got a Hero3 that I used for snorkeling. Video is fun, but it also took really good still pictures too. A few accessories I would suggest: Float attachment & wrist strap. I got the one one that's a big orange foam thing that attaches to the back door of the case. Red filter. If you are going...

Re: Need a fix. Best of St John in your eyes

Just got back a little over a week ago. Still living vicariously through my own pictures. :) An overlooked bar, is the bar inside Asolare. Especially with Kim tending it. Spent an evening there sampling and discussing different aged rums from around the caribbean. Very neat to try some very nicely a...

Alternative to the Snorkel Vest?

On the topic of safety that has come up, many people have mentioned the snorkel vests. I don't like them, so I don't wear them, but the thought of the added safety they can provide does make me think. I'm very comfortable in the water, even deep ocean, as I've been swimming my whole life and am a st...

Re: Show Your Face!

Been lurking for a long time, but finally posting. I visited St John ( and the other US and BVIs ) with my parents in the late 80's through mid 90's. Mainly sailing around on a live-aboard and scuba diving. Fast forward to last year, my first trip back to St John since then. I married my best friend...
