Warm villa, good views, Cruz Bay?
We've been to St. John twice and stayed up on Bordeaux both times. Thinking about returning at the end of May, but this time I want a villa closer in to town. I also don't want it to be as cool as it is up on that mountain! So, I was wondering if anybody could recommend a villa that might sleep 6-8 ...

Re: Taxi vs rental car
Perhaps because I have a friend whose kid was killed in a "taxi" accident in the Caribbean, I look at those pick up trucks with the awnings as potential death traps. I think we all have the idea that we're safe because everyone is doing it, or because we don't know of any accidents, but it...

We always use St. John, it's just so convenient and their cars have always been good.

Re: In a Quandary...Which Restaurant for Birthday Dinner
While Shipwreck is our favorite "regular" restaurant on the island, Zozo's is our favorite "expensive" restaurant. I just love their food. We eat at the bar, but be forewarned that at sunset that bar can be VERY hot and VERY sunny, so plan accordingly. You will sweat!

Re: Salomon Beach
<I love this beach because it seems the challenge of getting to it reduces the number of people.> Unfortunately, I've never found that be true. It's such a small beach that it feels crowded to me pretty easily - and it's amazing how many people think it's a secret, lol. One day we were there and I f...

Re: How low can YOU go ??
It depends if you have a washing machine or not. We always do, but I still get by with: 3 bikinis 1 bathing suit cover-up 1 shorts 1 pants (worn on plane) 1 top (worn on plane) 1 very light sweater or fleece (worn on plane) 2 tank tops 1 sundress flip flops 1 pair flat but cute sandals (ok to wear w...

Re: Salomon Beach
I hate being on a beach without a chair, so we carry our chairs. I've never found the walk in (I don't really think of it as a hike) difficult, just takes a little time, nothing tricky. That said, I have found Salomon Beach sometimes more crowded (people per square foot) than many other beaches on S...

Re: Reef Bay Trail Advise
I found this trail to be quite easy. It was a warm day when we did it, but we got up early and got down before there were many people there. On the way out there were large groups coming down - that didn't look so fun to me. The petroglyphs are amazing; if you get there alone it feels quite magical....

Re: Tatoo on St. John
Oh yeah, I forgot about all that...plus I was told never to let it be in the sun. Mine is on the back of my shoulder, so I always cover it with a 50 spf zinc oxide lotion. Still, getting one on vacation, in a place you love, at the end of the trip might be fun.
