Re: Wondering why no solar?
Lost about a dozen panels in Irmaria when an uprooted tree flew into them. Got new ones up and running and have been 100% solar, especially for all those months of no WAPA service. It’s not cheap, but the alternative seems far worse.

Re: Say it Ain't So!
Haha... Some trip reports elicit laughter and that one is deserving. Even when St. John is crowded, it's never state-side crowded. Too small, too much of it national park (over 2/3 at last reckoning). Some of you may know that Haulover western half, starting from when it starts to flatten till about...

We did the trip today and for the six of us it cost $52: No hassle, in and out.

We spent the day touring around the BVI and there wasn't a single mosquito in sight nor bite...
Back to the East End and the feasting continues...
Can't say whether arid conditions hastens the cycle or whether word got out that we have the tastiest blood.

Re: shop online starfish mkt?
Have never used, so I may be mistaken, but I'd much prefer to select my own food, as often fresh goods, such as produce, can be in the state of perishing, and I want the best choice available. Shopping online is a craps shoot whether you'll be given the best, middling, or worst. Then again if all yo...

Re: Coral Bay Marina please submit comments to CZM
Although I am all for advocating for the community, this appears to be a lost battle. This issue along with the closing of the Guy Benjamin school, and the development of multidwelling units out on the East End all drew large crowds at the public meetings where representatives from the government he...

Re: More about Mosquitoes
Bertha mosquitoes have "popped" and are hungry!
Generally it is about 7 to 10 days after the rain.

Re: What is the BVI Customs Fee
Interesting as we'll be heading to BVI in a couple of weeks on a friend's boat. He mentioned not looking forward to customs and now I understand better why. We'll buy him a few as a gesture of appreciation.

To confirm most domestic flights will check the booze boxes free of charge, which certainly makes it worth it.

Re: Rumble in the Virgins
Glass panes were rattling and the floor was moving, but it was mild compared to the one in VA/MD last year. I was in Baltimore then and had initially thought the boiler in the building had exploded.
This one was much tamer and am happy to report no damage to the East End.

Vie's family owns both beaches. Are you sure about this? I believe all beaches are public, to the tree line. Vie is able to charge admission because you have to cross her property to get to the beach. This is essentially correct. Technically Virgin Island law is 50 feet above the mean low tide line...
