I don't know how to fix, but....

I am sorry to say I do not know how to recover images from the memory card nor do I know how you'd prevent the problem. But, get the files onto your computer and keep trying to open them with other software. Copy the files to your hard drive rather than "import" them off the camera. Rememb...

USVI is a DOMESTIC US Address - Not global nor international

Pia is correct about flat rate priority mail. If you end up needing to deal with US mail between USVI and US ever again, know that USVI is a domestic US address.
