Re: Bringing Wine?
Cost u Less and Price Smart both were selling Veuve at crazy low prices for a couple months last year and all islanders interested, stocked up. I also found premium sipping Anejo Tequila at Starfish less than US prices last year and stocked up. Every once in a while you can get a good deal. Returnin...

Re: Bringing Wine?
I live on St John and fine wines are very expensive. I have the opportunity to buy wholesale on St John and it is still comparable to US Retail prices. My favorite wines and champagne are not available on St John that is why I bring them down. They are limited release wines. Most wines available on ...

Re: Bringing Wine?
I bring down fine wine and champagne all the time without issue. I also bring all kinds of food in dry ice no problem. As long as TSA will accept it, you can check it.

Re: St John homes
We purchased property from the best realtor on St John, Les Otis :D And we built our home. I would never build a home on St John without living here full time to supervise. We love living here and love our home. I was a realtor in Bay Bay/Beacon Hill in the 80's. And picking a good realtor was very ...

Re: a question about doors for villa owners and renters
I like our Anderson Hurricane Doors and Windows, it has a finish that does not allow you to see inside the house during day light hours, but gives a clear view from inside the house out. and what Eric said about the Hurricane Glass is right, anyone that is concerned about hurricanes should have shut...

Re: a question about doors for villa owners and renters
Go for practicality, you will be an off island homeowner that does not need maintenance issues! Maintenance issues mean more bills from your rental agency and less income for you! Renters do not treat your home as you would nor do they appreciate your home the way you do. Someday when your spending ...

Re: Yes one more car rental question
I am curious why the villa companies that you rent from are not picking you up at the ferry dock and taking you to your rental car?

Re: Would you...?
LoriJ I think renting before you buy anywhere is usually a good idea. There are many long term rentals for snow birds that are less expensive than making the commitment to buy a place on the island. Also many month to month furnished rentals. I knew I wanted to live on St John, build our own home an...

Re: Would you...?
You can get health insurance down here. many of the hotels and some business's offer health care. Also some of the older kids/30 somethings that have been down here for a decade or more are putting together a small group health plan that servers, bartenders, restaurant managers and retail/sales asso...

Re: Would you...?
I did it and do not regret one moment! Building a house was like being in labor, moments of pain but when you deliver, the pain is barely a memory. It is hard to live on St John and not have an interest or job/business. You can only beach/boat so much, unless your Captain John Brandi and boating is ...

I love Mary Latham! http://www.marylatham.com She just did the photos for my web site (first villa photos for her) and they came out beautifully! She is new to the island and her rates are very reasonable! She is very easy to work with and has great ideas!

Re: St. Pat's Parade
My friend Tory Lane who did live streaming of the finish line of 8 Tuff Miles has started a new company called St John Now StJohnNow.com will be streaming live the St Paddy's Day Parade down here. I think they will be doing all kinds of events. So you can watch the parade down here from your recline...
