Re: Photo Sharing sites?
Dropbox is great for sharing files, my family uses it quite a bit to pass vacation photos back and forth if we are compiling a photo book for a gift, etc. In my experience you can download individual photos, if you have permission to edit. You can also download an entire folder. But are limited to a...

Re: Is this a huge mistake?
My 2cents. On a return trip from STJ we had a Miami connection that was originally an hour, long after booking (and right before the trip) there was a schedule change that reduced it to 40 minutes. Which we didn't realize until checking in at STT and they wouldn't book us through due to the shortnes...

Re: St John Villas posted MY photo on Facebook
Update. They finally got in touch with me… Hi Michael, we typically find our photos through fan submissions and web sites such as Pinterest. Although I don't have the exact location of where we found the photo, I can assure you our staff was unaware it had a copyright. We'd be more than happy to tak...

Indeed, guess you have start watermarking the hell out of things. The Wild west of the internet. I've only shared images on Flickr and all were tagged as copyrighted. All rights reserved. No creative commons licensing. I just happened to close my flickr account early last week, so not sure when or w...

St John Villas posted MY photo on Facebook
I guess I can consider it an honor, but not sure how or where they got it. Checking my FB feed this morning was surprised to see a familiar photo. At first I was hey that's a great photo I have one just like that. Then upon closer inspection, I realised it's the same one. One I took on Solomon Beach...

Re: camera question
I second the Gopro. it's bombproof in the underwater housing. Used one in STJ, Hawaii, and So California boogie boarding. Prior to having the gopro, we used an inexpensive panasonic lumix point and shoot in a $40 dikapac underwater bag. Made it really simple, going snorkling, toss the camera in the ...

Re: What's your STJ frequency?
We try to visit STJ every 2-3 years or so (just the 2 of us, or with another couple who also "get it"). Seems to work well for us, we have other vacation obligations (extended family trip to hawaii every other year, other travel opportunities that seem to fill in the gaps). I do seem to no...

Re: Full Moon - Thursday, April 25th
We did the rams head sunset/full moon rise our last trip. Was a great time to hike it, since it was cooler, little more breezy. Even though the Moon was obscurred by distant clouds as it rose. Still was a fun adventure. I'd do it again. Certainly take a small headlamp or flashlight. http://farm7.sta...

Re: Apple EyeTV and Roku
jmq - streaming and compression hasn't been an issue from what I have noticed. If you purchase/rent an HD movie it buffers it enough that you don't have compression issues. You will get some pixelization if you are playing an old TV series that was in shot and broadcast in SD on a HD set. The only p...

Re: Apple EyeTV and Roku
We've had the Apple TV for 2 years and love it. It's set up in a different room than our mac mini, but it's connected to our wireless network. We use Netflix and stream the movie and or TV series from the apple store. We also like to view our photos from trips and vacations in slideshow mode when co...
