Hi Not a comment on coolers (although we bite the bullet and take a cooler with food prepared at home to provide cooking-free time on the ‘ilons’, using blue ice). The guys that sell fish were there every time we went down the road toward Estate Concordia and Salt Pond Bay, on the left side of the r...

Hi Our suggestion would be to make a “Dark and Stormy”, a favorite drink in the Caribbean that originated in Bermuda. To be absolutely authentic, you’d use Gosling’s (a dark Bermuda Rum) and Barritts Ginger Beer. Works just fine with other dark rums though. The official recipe is at www.goslingsrum....

Ground-based trip - Part II - Tortola and St. John
Hi This is my second post on this board - just thought it would be of greater interest here than it would have been on TTOL (never posted there). The first part was pretty much on the BVI portion of our tenth trip in May-June of this year - land based. Again, we just hope that we're not too long win...

Hi The current feline visitor (at Bougainvillea) is a young black cat, who was more than willing to eat a sample of Chris’ excellent beef stew but hissed and fled whenever I approached (just slunk away from Chris). This cat is going to have to adapt to the presence of visitors to replace Fluffy. One...

Hi If you’ve been listening to the news lately, you might be inclined to save California for another day. I’ve been spending a lot of time looking at the part of my granddaughter’s trip that involves (among other tings) Yosemite and points north. Until a lot of work has been completed in Yosemite (t...

Hi Been to Shipwreck Landing a number of times - it’s only so-so for food - not in the same league as Miss Lucy’s (ah that callaloo!) or even the late lamented Island Blues. There is one thing that sticks in my mind though and that’s the dishes with sugar and the countless banaquits flitting from bo...

Hi Our experience with Yellowstone is a little more recent (‘05). Our daughter and her two kids had spent the summer in the Rockies (hauling our venerable tent camper). He husband (a wage slave like some of the rest of us) didn’t have that option. (He couldn’t even paste three consecutive weeks toge...

Hi Many thanks for the photo of Fluffy - a regular visitor at Lime Tree house the first time we stayed there. Saved it in my pictures files. I’m sure Tina and Valerie would treasure a picture of this cat - they appreciated the picture of Bo that I sent them as an attachment to a recent E-Mail. Darne...

Hi It was great seeing a picture of a night-blooming Cereus. When we first went to Guavaberry Spring Bay (in ‘96), Tina told us about them. On a recent visit with my (then) brand new Panasonic digital camera, I was faced by the problem of figuring how to auto-focus a digital camera in the dark. Well...

Hi This is my first post on this board - just thought it would be of greater interest here than it was on TTOL. The first part is pretty much on the BVI part of our tenth trip in May-June of this year - land based. I'll try to finish it up with the second part which was largely based on St. John. We...
