Trip report 8/10-8/18 - STJ and San Juan

Back (boo hoo) from a fabulous trip to STJ 8/10-8/18. This trip was with dw Deb and 10 y.o. dd Ari. Some pretty random observations follow. Up at 5:00 for our 7:25 flight. Packed last night. We're carrying on! Never thought we'd do it. Got to the airport, boarding passes in hand, through security wi...

Welll, we just got back last week from STJ and we'll wave at you as we cruise down over Thanksgiving. And then again, next March!

I've just given myself over to my problem!

Tree House is the first place we ever stayed. High up on Mamey Peak, great views. Older home, great breezes, comfortable. Not luxurious, but it's $980 a week!

We just got back on Delta miles. What I ended up finding was that I could get there on SkySaver miles in first class from here (SAT) to SJU via ATL. Friday outbound, saturday return. I booked American Eagle flights from SJU-STT for $200 a piece for the rest. It made for a LOOONG travel day, but we g...

Well, while the restaurants are not cheap in general, Anguilla is a great place to visit. We honeymooned at this cute little one-bedroom place: http://www.greatrentals.com/anguilla/4372.html It's got a great location, right on the water, view of St Martin. The beaches on Anguilla rival STJ. There ar...

36 hours...

and we'll be winging or way to Paradise! Can't wait. We're gonna try the carry-on approach, but we'll see. (I'm fairly confident I can do it, but ya' know.........). ;-)

Although we will need something decent for the casino at the Ritz in San Juan for the return stay-over....

I'll ditto the Sago Palms sentiments. We loved it. Great views and very private. I saw a post very recently that the renovations next door have been on hold, but check with Mary-Phyllis at Private Homes.

We stayed there twice a few years back. Mary-Phyllis is a gem to work with. It's got a nice lap pool, probably about four feet deep. It's a comfortable home. We had our 6 or 8 year old son and his bst friend. They had a good time. Other homes we stayed in with younger kids were Poinciana and Soft Wi...

I don't have first hand experience right by Great Cruz Bay, but a couple of affordable options I liked are: in Chocolate Hole - Tesseract, in Hart Bay (walk to beach)there's Poinciana, and finally, with drop-dead views of Reef Bay there's Soft Winds.

Have fun planning!!

Shopping question

Soooo, anyone want to venture an opinion of best watch prices on STJ/STT? Especially on Rado, if you have any experience? May want to take the plunge this trip and don't want to waste allllll day shopping. Thanks in advance!
