Re: Car Barge
They opened up PreCheck when we left the island April 23rd. The regular line was getting really long and they called people with PreCheck out of it over to the PreCheck line plus let new PreCheck people get in that line. It was mid-day if that helps.

Re: Advice on snorkel fins
Any thoughts on the Tribord all in one masks. We saw a lot of people using them last year. They are a little alien-like but the people that we talked with seemed to like them. I've never used one but they look great. The only reason I haven't tried one is that I like to dive down to see stuff and I...

Re: No more plastic bags being used...
I'm so happy to hear this! We're on island now so I will be buying one of their cloth bags to take home. I travel everywhere with my reusable bags and encourage others to do so as well. And, remember, they aren't just for groceries either. Thanks for posting Pia.

Re: Beach Bum's Night Time Glass Bottom Kayak Questions
If it is like the one we did a couple of years ago, you go out into Cruz Bay around Gallows Point and back. We had a great time and the stories were fun. The lights really attract the fish and we even had one jump into our kayak! It was a small one and added to the fun. Enjoy! It's really different ...

Thanks for your post and photos! El Yunque is a beautiful place to visit. I'm curious about your statement that the visitor's center is closed. Are you speaking of the El Portal Rain Forest Center? If so, it is still open.

Re: Stinging Plankton???
Snorkeler525 - Do you have a scientific source for your statement about warmer ocean temperatures in regard to sea lice? Many sources. Feel free to google as I am not posting all of them nor am I getting into an argument about climate change, warmer ocean temperatures, or any other scientifically b...

Re: Stinging Plankton???
If you are concerned about getting stung, try Sea Safe: http://www.buysafesea.com It does work as long as you follow the directions. Also, if you do get stung, don't use meat tenderizer - it just spreads the stinging cells and makes it worse. Try using vinegar, preferably sprayed on, or if you don't...

Re: Rash guards
I second the coolibar.com recommendation. I love their rash guards and they last a very long time. I like having a zipper in mine so it doesn't feel too constricting around the neck. Their water jackets are awesome.

Re: AA nickel and dime
We've booked on AA many times and gotten bad seats or could not get seats together. Its never failed that a lot of seats become available EXACTLY 24 hours before the scheduled flight. I made seat changes for our early Sunday flights the day before. But, no seats, at all, ever? I'm looking at our fu...

Re: July 4th events
We were there last year. I forget how long the roads are closed but it is a long time and they are closed to normal traffic well before the parade starts. Rick's suggestion to ask your rental car company is a good idea. It is a crazy day on St. John - in a good way but super crowded. They were runni...

Re: STJ on Caribbean Life on the Travel network
Why these shows think it is okay to post scenes that aren't from the island on the show is beyond me. I know they are staged but that is no excuse to be so darn lazy.

Re: Airline flight change!! Need opinion
If Delta made the change then they must think it is doable. Unfortunately, that doesn't get you anywhere if your first flight is late. You can look up on time statistics for the flights to see if your earlier flight is typically on time. The airlines build in a lot of slack in their flight times to ...

I just reserved the Beach House at Buccaneer Resort for a trip next February so I too hope this forum gets more active. Would love to hear about your trip - any restaurant recommendations, activities, etc. A long way away but I promise to post as much as I can after we get back. I am sure it will be...

Re: Turtles!
We've also seen Hawksbill Sea Turtles (they like to eat sponges) at Chocolate Hole along with lots of other great sea life including barracuda and octopus. Not many people know to go there so we always have it to ourselves. You'll likely find Green Sea Turtles wherever there is sea grass. Most of th...
