The predominant wind direction is from the E - the sun also rises in the E - the Eastern and windward side of the island gives up moisture to both and the clouds form on the N. and highest peaks , cause rain fall ,and intensity varies by the cloud density. Currently the water has cleared up fairly well - to see the swell and wave conditions use the graph function on www.ndbc.noaa.gov and look at - station 41043 -- anything 5-6' or below is normal. Mary Pt- Whistling Key- Francis -Maho -Giboney- Scott were all fine the last few days. Some erosion evide...

Just came home from a day at Magens beach -- there must have been a hundred sea fans washed up on the west end above the current tide line - purple, green and orange. And I saw a number of people collecting them too. Obviously recent as they were still bright and pliable, and quite odorous! There is...

Interesting report so far - wonder about the logic of tying up to any mooring designated for daytime use only versus lying to your own trusty ground tackle if he was worried about the wind though. Anchoring is preferred almost exclusively instead of depending on a mooring that is maintained by who k...

About the reef at Jumbie Bay - a few weeks ago a vessel that transports cruise ship passengers to Trunk Bay for snorkel trips broke free of her mooring and went aground on that reef. The NPS is assessing damage and it sounds as if they are trying to do some repair work as well. That is what the meas...
