Rum Punch R&D

Christine and I have been experimenting with rum punch to help us through the wait for our November trip. My last one was: Goslings Black Seal Rum 1 part OJ 1 part Pineapple Juice 2 parts Papaya Nectar Splash of Club Soda Over ice The Black Seal was too molassy, Mount Gay too vanilla. I guess I'll j...

I think De Loose Mongoose is on Tortola/Beef Island. We hit that when we are flying out of Beef Island. At least we used to when you could visit Anegada without paying for a charter flight.

I've only ever snorkeled around from Jumbie Bay. The most interesting part of the swim was the point between Jumbie and Denis Bays with some large fish and lobster. It was fun to walk down the beach and back. Denis Bay does get nice afternoon sun. If there was any swell at all I would not attempt th...

Ya, can you please take some pictures of the kitchen seeing that Jorge is going to put my poor a$$ to work cooking when we're down there. Mmmm, ham for breakfast? Careful with those tan lines. Wear an apron when you fry that up, don't want to burn the bits. I learned that lesson the hard way. Cheer...

Sweeping floors, etc.

do you all do this when you stay at a hotel? No, I never do any of these things at a hotel. But I do some of them when we rent a place at the beach on the East Coast. But there, we have to bring our own linens and towels. Not having to pack towels is a big deal. Towels were half of our luggage when...

The Cruz Bay/Jost Van Dyke ferry runs on Thursdays and Sunday. You probably want to check that before you leave, these schedules have a habit of changing. Taking one ferry to Tortola and then another to JVD and back is going to eat a lot of time if that's your only Sunday option. A better option is ...

Well, we do a few straightforward things. All things you would do in a beach rental anywhere. - Throw away perishables from the refrigerator - Take trash to the dumpster - Sweep floors - Rinse off beach chairs - Put things back where we found them - Wash and fold beach towels - Write a note in the h...

You don't need to go out to the Cay to see the starfish. We love the beach with its many rays, cuttle fish, starfish, barracuda and host of other critters. Usually extremely clear. If you want to see the coral out around the island it is pretty straight forward to walk out towards the point and swim...

Bill, ya stinkin day. We were supposed to go to the Shirlington Oktoberfest, but the cold rain is coming down. We'll have to tag-team this trip, we are heading home on the 25th. It looks like we have a pretty good Virginia contingent on this forum. I'll work my share trying to keep a Virginian on ST...

MB, your pictures and description really bring this alive. It's great to hear that the boys did you good. I sent my sister the view of the hill between Hart Bay and Chocolate Hole so that she can see her November villa, Le Lapin. She was all questions about Bongo Bongo after seeing the interior shot...

I would heartily endorse Liamsaunt's list. Also, one of my favorite sunset things to do is to have a drink at the 3rd floor crow's nest bar at Zozo's. Once you get a seat there, and have a few cocktails, you may forget about dinner---its a really great view. I see a good number of folks taking dinn...

My sister is renting Le Lapin II from Caribben Villas in November largely because of the internal staircase. Four parents and three kids at 4, 3 and 2 years old. Another part of our group with two little ones and four adults is in Dolphin Run. It has 3 adjacent bedrooms on the top level with two sha...

NoWorriesMom, I was in Denver last Thursday-Sunday for the Great American Beer Fest. No Virgin Islands Pale Ale sightings. Every day was in the 80s and sunny. I could live that way! But, I'm closer to the islands here with 3 airports nearby.

Cheers, RickG
