Re: Working on arrival day schedule. Need info...
I checked out Caribbean Oasis on Facebook too. Looks like a place we will have to check out when we are on that end of the island. I see they had Onion Pie on the list of specials for last Thursday. Have any of you had that? It does not sound good, but it might be one of those things I would have to...

9:15 pm Arrival - Will We Make The 11:00 pm Ferry?
Our scheduled flight arrival to STT is 9:15 pm, and we have decided to try to make the 11:00 pm Red Hook ferry. I'd prefer to check a bag, but will go carry-on only if necessary to get out of the airport quicker. Also, should we plan on taking a private taxi like Rachel's or Christopher's, or will w...

Re: 8 days with carry-on luggage only?!
I am curious as to the reason that most people do not like to check bags. Is it the extra cost that most airlines hit you with or is it the hassle of waiting for your checked bag(s) at the airport? I actually prefer to check bags because of the additional capacity and because I like to travel light ...

Re: Website with snorkeling demonstration?
I am going to have to check out the one about how to look hot in a bikini. I am a 47 year old male who tips the scales at almost 300 pounds, so that has always been a challenge for me  also listed along with many other snorkel videos; how to survive a shark attack how to look hot in a bikini ho...

I live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and I think we have gotten about the same amount of snow this whole winter as you all are getting in the last few weeks. You have my prayers and my sympathy.

Re: 2 Door Jeep Wrangler versus 4 Door
If you can cancel the 2-door with no charge and get a 4-door somewhere else, that is what I would do. If you would have to pay to cancel the 2-door or cannot find a 4-door anywhere else, then I would live with it. If she is easy-going and flexible, it will be no big deal. If she is uptight and petty...

Re: Looking forward to PBJs and Pringles...
I am probably in the minority, but I enjoy cooking on St. John more than at home. Just something so relaxing about preparing a nice meal in a villa or condo, and then enjoy that meal on the deck. I love it.
But then I think everything is better on St. John.

Re: Trip report...of sorts
Our first trip to St. John was only because my wife wanted to go someplace "warm, with green or blue water". I would have preferred to go north, to Alaska. If you would have told me that I could sit on a beach all day and do absolutely nothing, I would have told you you were crazy. Then we...

Re: Renting a Dinghy - How deep at the mooring balls?
Thanks Exit Zero and Rick, I appreciate your replies. I got the impression that you could not beach the center console dinghies from the following Jan 1, 2014 post: "In most cases you will have to pick up a mooring ball, not beach the dinghy - if you rent the center console dinghies they are no...

Re: Large and in charge! A trip report
Nice report! My 20 year old son would absolutely be the one to go to the wrong airport. He is a great kid but sometimes I wonder how he makes it through the week.

Renting a Dinghy - How deep at the mooring balls?
My wife and I are planning on renting a dinghy for a day, probably a center console, and this will be new for us. From searching the forum, I see that you have to use the mooring balls as most or all beaches if you have a center console dinghy. I am a good swimmer, but my wife is not a swimmer, so I...

Our last day will be on STT - What to do with luggage?
I just found out from American Airlines that our flight out on our last day will be at 8:45 am, not 1:20 pm like we originally booked. That means our last night will now be on STT instead of St John, at the Best Western Carib Beach since it is right next to the airport. We will probably check out fr...

I personally would not want to spend any of my island time getting certified. If your local lakes and ponds will not be covered in ice from now until the time you go, he should make every effort to get certified before you go. It would totally suck to spend your island time in a classroom, but even ...
