Yes, I agree about Salt Pond, it's one of our favorite snorkels also! As well as one of our favorite beaches, period...it just seems "wilder" than so many of the North Shore beaches. Lots of tarpon, turtles, rays....

The main problem that I have is that Chip will not stay in Coral Bay. He has said that while he likes it, he just wants to be closer to Cruz Bay. So, it limits my search for a smaller, more economical house. That's funny, because I don't like to stay near Cruz Bay, I only want to stay in Coral Bay!!!

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Sea Spirit, near Salt Pond Bay! What a magical, beautiful place.....almost like you're at the end of the world.

Sputniks also has roti 1 day a week, I think. Sputniks is very much a local place in Coral Bay, and very inexpensive, where as Sweet Plantains is closer to fine dining. I'll second Sputniks! Julie (JuJu) is probably the sweetest, most loving woman my wife & I have ever met! We stumbled in there...

South Beaches

I think both of the Lameshur Bays, and Salt Pond Pay all have incredible snorkeling! We've always seen turtles, rays, tarpon, etc. at Salt Pond. And that part of St. John is just so damn beautiful!!

Hello, Shipwreck Pat!!! My wife & I stay at Sea Spirit, near Salt Pond Bay, and the Shipwreck is without a doubt our favorite place to eat, drink & hang out. The blackened mahi is better than any fish I've ever had any where, anytime! And that wonderful hot sauce you folks sell, made locally...

The Donkey Diner has excellent pizza, but only a couple nights a week (and it's over in Coral Bay).

Full day, hands down. We always head all the way out to Waterlemon, snorkle, have lunch and then slowly make our way back, stopping at whatever beaches/snorkle spots capture our fancy. A half day (we did that once) isn't enough time to really enjoy the trip. Have an awesome time! I'm confused....yo...

Grandma Raised The Roof

Speaking of St. John books, does anyone know how I could obtain a copy of "Grandma Raised The Roof", by Ethyl McCully?

Is there a way to upload photos directly to the forum, without using something like Photobucket? I'm using my work computer (don't have one at home), and we're blocked from using Photobucket and other "shared" sites like that. I have some great Mongoose pics I'd love to share!

Yes, the critters aren't bad on STJ. I love the little geckos that run around on the decks, they're very cute! Mongoose are neat animals, they love dry cat food. We've stayed at Sea Spirit a couple times, and they used to have two resident outside cats, and we'd leave food out on the deck for them. ...

Yikes! We are staying at Sea Spirit in July! I guess we are staying at the most remote villa on the island? I am sure it will be fine because it is only the two of us and it is our 20th Anniversay but I would like to make it to Cruz Bay a few times. Does anyone know how long that ride will be? It s...
