Lime Inn 04/08/2011
Reviewers Rating: Fair
We have just returned from our 18th consecutive annual trip to STJ. The Lime Inn has always been one of our favorite places for dinner, so first night that's where we headed,
We were seated at a table for two on the spur dining area alongside the entrance ramp. Wally, the new maitre d', introduced himself and wished us a good evening. The hostess came by and presented the evening's specials. So far so good.
Ten minutes later, our waitress still had not appeared. The hostess finally took pity on us and brought water.
Ultimately the waitress arrived, took our drink order and seemed very annoyed that we asked her to take our dinner order at the same time. She disappeared again. Presumably she waited at the bar for the order to be filled. It became clear she could only perform one task at a time; she could serve a meal, but not pick up a check from an adjacent table on her way back to the kitchen.

When our meals arrived (served by someone from the kitchen...where was our waitress? She kept disappearing.) The mahi was very skimpy and served in chunks instead of in a single piece. Was this to make it look more plentiful?? Instead of a choice of rice or baked potato which has been standard for years, we were given a half-cup of "wet" mashed potatoes--probably a mix of sweet and white. Tasted awful. And 4--count 'em--four! withered-looking roasted green beans.
Terribly disappointed. Things were run much differently in the past. Service was greatt, staff very well trained, food excellent and quantities modest but adequate.
All that has changed. I'm sorry the previous owner (Chris?) has left the running of the restaurant to others. He knew what he was doing.
On a positive note, we had fantastic meals at Rhumb Lines and out in Coral Bay at Aqua Bistro. Clearly, Lime Inn did not get a repeat visit from us.
