You can go to Jake's for the food- it's worth the trip. Or, you can go to Jake's just to meet Jake- the adorable namesake of this Lumberyard eating establishment who keeps customers entertained with his antics. We stopped in on our last morning before heading to the ferry. We were ready for a big breakfast and Jake's obliged. The kids went for the usual- eggs, ham, homefries and pancakes. All were perfectly prepared and arrived hot. The fluffy pancakes were as big as a human head- a distinction that does not go unnoticed in our family. I opted for the breakfast burrito with beef. FABULOUS and HUGE. The home made pico de gallo was especially wonderful. I gave 1/2 of the burrito to the starving masses at our table- sans pico de gallo. That was all mine. Hubby got the corned beef hash. It should be renamed to "chunk". Large pieces of corned beef and potato are crisped to perfection. Hubby wants me to replicate it at home as he liked the texture much more than traditional hash. Jake's also offers a nice view over the tree tops to the Bay. Open and breezy, we plan on trying Jake's out for lunch or dinner our next trip.
