Lime Inn 02/24/2010
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Blasphemy. We walked by Lime Inn numerous times last year and never went in. This year, a chance meeting of a lovely waitress on the streets of Cruz Bay and the serendipitous coincidence that her mom lives a street away from us, brought us to Lime Inn. The first night was so great, we went for a second. The entire staff from owner Rich, to bus persons and bartenders make you feel like you're a hero returning home. They truly appreciate their customers. One of my sons was not feeling well on our first night at the restaurant and glasses of water and bread were promptly brought to him to perk him up. We ended up dining at the bar on our first night. It's a fun spot to sit back, enjoy some great food and meet people in a similar mind set. The kids decided on the Reef and Cay. A 12 ounce sirloin was accompanied by 4 plump jumbo shrimp. The kids opted for them grilled. The steak was done to perfection. Their favorite side was the pasta with butter and parmesan cheese. Perfectly cooked and piquant from the good quality cheese. I opted for a grilled mahi mahi with papaya sauce. It opted for a side of wild rice- the perfect texture and nutty flavor to complement the papaya sauce. Hubby had a pan seared tuna with wasabi mayo. He said it was fantastic- it wasn't a fluke, he ordered it the second night as well. Both evenings we ordered the chef's special salad. Each featured terrific, local organic greens, fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts and cheese with a viniagrette that complemented the other elements. The salads are fresh and delicious and can rival those at any top restaurant. Our second night was much of the same, this time I went for the Reef and Cay while the kiddos went for stuffed filet. One opted for the blue cheese stuffed filet while the other got a crab and cheese stuffed filet. Both were decadent creations, perfectly cooked and flavorful. For dessert, we shared a slice of key lime pie. DELICIOUS. A sweet, dense, graham cracker based crust is topped with a tangy, creamy key lime filling. A very refreshing way to satisfy the sweet tooth. I highly recommend at least one visit to Lime Inn. But beware, if you go early in the week, you may be back again.
