We stopped by Compass Rose because we thought that the menu had been changed to West Indian cuisine as cooked by the famous Miss Etta. There weren’t any menus on display, so by the time we figured out that she was no longer there (that was fast!), we had already ordered drinks and decided to stay anyway.
The lunch menu as it stands now is small and very basic—burgers, hot dogs, wraps, a couple of soups—as well as bar snacks like jalepeno poppers and mozzarella sticks, etc. We ordered our standby lunch—mahi sandwich, and it was just fine. The fish was pleasant tasting and came with all of the usual accompaniments. All sandwiches come with curly fries.
The space is large and airy, and the lush plants all around are interesting to look at. With the right menu I could see this being a romantic dinner spot.
