Asolare 01/30/2007
Reviewers Rating: Stars Excellent
We dined at Asolare twice during our vacation. The first time it was perfect, the second time, my husbands lamb came out rare when he ordered medium/cooked through.
They took it back and returned it perfect. This restaurant has the nicest atmosphere of all the restaurants in St John. The sunset balcony dinner at 5:45 is not to be missed. This would be a fabulous place for a wedding reception.
The bar, serves excellent drinks, and the wine list is one of the best in St John IMHO. You can eat at the bar if you cant get a reservation. The bartender is very nice and has been their since the beginning. She is fun to chat with when things are slow.
Sis declared it her best meal of the week; she had the seared Tuna I think it was marinated in green tea. Bro had the filet mignon and he said it was perfect. He requested the blue cheese mashed potatoes that usually come with the lamb and they gave it to him instead of the starch featured with the steak. Those blue cheese mashed potatoes are a little bit of heaven and I am planning on trying them at home soon. The Mahi Mahi with shrimp special was one of the best entrees I have ever had. For apps we shared the pork dumplings with a velvety hot mustard sauce and the special sushi of the night. For desert we ordered 2 to share, the Chocolate Pyramid and the Spicy Bread Pudding with a White Chocolate Sauce, both were sinful! Stuffed, warm and glowing we headed back to Chocolate Hole for sweet dreams.
