Everyone raves about Uncle Joe’s barbecue, so we were eager to give it a shot. Now, barbecue is a personal choice. Memphis has its proponents, Kansas City has its, and even here in my home state, some people like Eastern and some like Western North Carolina barbecue. So here’s the, well, I was going to say “skinny”, but that’s not exactly appropriate in this context. Here’s the lowdown on Uncle Joe’s.
It’s g-o-o-o-o-d.
Two of us got ribs (my choice), two got chicken. All four of us got stuffed. You get two sides, and the choices are slaw, rice and beans, pasta salad, and corn. They were okay, but the meat is the draw. The sauce is slightly sweet, but not cloyingly so. More like Sandra Bullock than Meg Ryan.
Anyway, four terrific and filling meals, and the tab for the whole group was $42. It's a must for your visit to St. John.
