We visited Tage three times over the course of a visit a few weeks ago. We always loved Paradiso, and knew that the former head chef at Paradiso finally opened his own place--Tage.

The food is generally excellent. You can't go wrong with the specials. We had some wonderful fresh, scrumptious, fish dishes prepared with complex, tasty potato and vegetable combinations. You can make a meal of appetizers at the bar: The spinach salad with apple-smoked bacon was always a favorite at Paradiso and it's great here. The *only* thing no one cared for was the lobster medallion appetizer which sounds great on the menu, but is in reality covered in too much balsamic-vinegar glaze. Overpowers the delicate lobster meat.

If you choose to dine here, try to snag a table outside (covered) ...the air is nice and you can watch Cruz Bay drive by. If you dine inside, be aware that the mostly windowless room can appear a bit cheerless and loud.

For those of you, like us, who often prefer to eat at the bar, you cannot order from the dinner menu there, but the bar/appetizer menu will definitely satisfy. There are also a couple of small, round tables in the bar that are available for bar diners.

The service is mostly exceptional. The hostess, wait staff (Christy!), and bartender (Will) are all welcoming, knowledgable, and efficient.

The desserts are great...I vaguely remember having this sinful donut hole thing that I've blocked from my memory not because it wasn't great but because I felt so indulgent eating it on a trip that also included wearing a bathing suit.

Enjoy Tage. You shouldn't go wrong there.
