Stone Terrace 01/07/03
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
I must have had a sinfully disturbing smile on my face as I read the menu of amazing choices because the "lady of honor" in our dinner party said, "I've never seen you so happy as this moment." With eight people in our party ordering main dishes including pork tenderloin, duck, lamb and even a vegetarian plate, I set my strategy as I ordered last. Knowing I could sneak a taste from most everyone, I couldn't resist; I added to the splendor of our samples by having the charred rare tuna over greens for an appetizer, and not being able to settle for less, I ordered two more apps to be my main meal. Crab cakes over island grown micro greens and coconut shrimp both of which were unique in flavor and simply amazing. The dessert sampler was just as delightful as the meal as duelling spoons scraped for every last morsel. The wine list was as extensive and impressive as any 5 star restaurants in the continental US I've had the pleasure of experiencing. The ambience of the stone terrace is captured in its name with native stone architecture reminiscent of the Dutch plantation ruins. Fine dining with an incredible view of Cruz Bay. You can hear the water lapping on to the sandy beach shore just 40 yards away from your candle lit table. The service was perfectly attentive with out being disturbing. The meal was nicely paced without any noticeable waits or being rushed. What a truly incredible dining experience. My family has made this an annual pleasure with expectations exceeded each time we visit. If you know great cuisine when you see it, then you have arrived at the Stone Terrace.
