In Coral Bay right next to the water sits Pepes. It has a large, nice bar and is completely open, which makes it nice and breezy. The owner is from Boston and was there when we walked in. He told us to order his chicken wings, which we did, declaring them the best on St. John. They were good as were the specials my wife and I ordered - Beef BBQ sandwich and a Maryland Crab Cake Sandwich with fries and a veggie for $9 each. The menu consists of quesadillas, nachos, wings, fish & chicken sandwiches as well as hamburgers. There is a "daily specials" board that has some other nice offerings. I later found out the cook was the former chef at a nice Cruz Bay eatery (Morgan's Mango or Fish Trap??) I can't remember. Pepes is designed with sports memorabilia and has a couple TVs. So if you stop by on weekends they'll have the football games on. The only negative would be the bartenders. They aren't the friendliest and their frozen drinks (from several diffrent bartenders) aren't blended enough (chunky). Hey, just order a beer. That aside, Pepes is great.
